Webcast of December Council Meeting

The webcast of the December meeting of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is now on line -

To view my input follow these instructions: To the right hand side of the picture, you will see three tabs, Home, Index Points and Speakers. Click on Index points, then scroll down and click on my name at the following point(s) -

02.13.17 and 02.24.34 for my motion calling for the UK Head of State to be welcomed in the County in the event of a visit to Ireland.  Unfortunately this was narrowly defeated.  However I believe that the debate in itself will advance attitudes on this issue and hopefully lead to a more developed and nuanced acceptance of the legitimacy of such a visit.

At the moment this webcast is playing properly on Internet Explorer but not Google Chrome.

Alex White overwhelmingly selected as Labour candidate for Dublin South

At the Dublin South selection convention today, I was pleased and privileged to have been asked by Senator Alex White to propose his nomination as the Labour Party candidate for Dublin South. In my nomination speech I asked members to endorse Alex as the Party's standard bearer for the Constituency, who had performed exceptionally well in the previous bye-election. I was delighted that Alex was overwhelmingly endorsed by members, winning on the first count. Commiserations to the other candidates who ran a dignified campaign. Picture shows me with Alex after the Convention, together with Dr Mary Upton TD, Chairperson of the Convention. (Photo credit: Brian McDowell)
